What Can Cosmetic Lasers Treat?

Laser skin treatments can address a large number of skin complaints, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Deep wrinkles
  • Discoloration
  • Redness
  • Birthmarks
  • Scars

During your consultation, we’ll examine your skin and listen to your concerns. We can then recommend the best laser or combination of lasers to achieve the results you want.

It’s important to remember that no one’s skin is as perfect as it looks with a photo filter on it. However, lasers can help give you skin so smooth and youthful that you’ll feel comfortable leaving the house without makeup.

Can I Combine Laser Skin Resurfacing With Other Procedures?

Laser skin resurfacing can be combined with other non-surgical procedures to address multiple concerns without surgical intervention. Popular combinations, such as skin resurfacing with fillers or injectables, can help to correct several common issues and produce a noticeably more vibrant and youthful appearance.

How Do I Prepare for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Very little needs to be done in preparation for laser skin resurfacing. You will need to avoid blood-thinning medications, herbs, and supplements in advance of your treatment. If you use a product containing nicotine, including smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes, you will need to quit in advance of your procedure as well. Vascular constrictors and blood thinners can cause unnecessary risks, delay the body’s healing response, and result in unfavorable results.

During your initial consultation, we will help you determine the best ways to prepare for laser skin resurfacing based on your specific lifestyle and the treatment you will be receiving.

Types of Laser Skin Treatments We Offer

We offer the following laser treatments at our office in Pensacola:

  • Halo ($1,900): The Halo laser offers dramatic results with minimal downtime. It can target fine lines, sun damage, discoloration, and skin tone and texture. You can choose to have fewer, more aggressive treatments or multiple less aggressive treatments spaced out over time.
  • BBL Photofacial ($175-$300): BBL (broad band light) is a more powerful version of IPL (intense pulsed light). It’s a very versatile laser, and can treat pigmentation, vascular issues, and can even remove hair.
  • ProFractional and TRL ($1,900): This combination laser treatment can erase deep wrinkles and help improve acne scars, actinic keratosis, pigmented lesions, lax skin, and other skin concerns.
  • Nano Laser Peel: This treatment is a deeper, more powerful version of a chemical peel. With the Nano Laser Peel, you can improve fine lines and other textural concerns. After just a day or two of recovery, your skin will be soft, smooth, and youthful.

Forever Young Protocol

A clinical study performed at Stanford University found that BBL treatments every 4 months, combined with a customized at-home skin care routine, can significantly delay the onset of signs of aging. If you’re interested in making a long-term investment in your skin, consider our Forever Young package.

Scar Revision

If you have a scar that did not heal well and is unsightly, we can help improve its appearance with scar revision. There are a number of options for scar revision, including:

  • Surgical scar revision
  • Laser treatment
  • Steroid injections
  • 5-FU injections
  • Dermabrasion

You can send us photos and information, and we’ll set you up with the most appropriate appointment.

Skin Tightening with ThermiTight

ThermiTight is a non-surgical procedure that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to tighten mild to moderately loose, sagging skin. ThermiTight can be used on most areas of the body, and is most popular on the face, neck, arms, and thighs.

As ThermiTight is non-invasive and requires no downtime, most patients with lax skin are candidates. If you have significantly sagging skin, a surgical lift will likely be better, however.

What Is Recovery After Laser Skin Resurfacing Like?

Recovery from laser skin resurfacing takes one to three weeks. During this time, some swelling, redness, and itchiness are to be expected. Your skin will dry and begin to peel, similar to a sunburn as you recover, revealing the softer and more attractive skin underneath.

You will not need to take time off from work following laser skin resurfacing. However, you will need to limit sun exposure and take proper care of the treatment area. Topical ointments and, when needed, medications can be used to help improve your body’s healing response and encourage the most pleasing results. We will provide you with detailed instructions on aftercare to help ensure your recovery process is as comfortable as possible.

How Many Treatments Do You Need for the Best Results?

Some laser skin resurfacing treatments can accomplish ideal results after one treatment. Some will require multiple treatments spaced out over several weeks or months. Others may produce the best results with regularly scheduled maintenance. All of this depends on the issues you are addressing, the severity of those issues, your skin type, and other factors that are unique to your body.

During your initial consultation, we will carefully assess your skin, discuss all of your treatment options, and provide honest information about how many treatments you can expect to receive before achieving ideal results.

Is Laser Resurfacing Painful?

Laser skin resurfacing is not a painful procedure. For some treatments, a topical skin-numbing cream may be used for increased comfort, but treatment with lasers should not result in pain.

Are There Any Risks to Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical treatment that comes with very few risks. However, some redness and swelling may be present for a few days after treatment. Itching is a common side effect as well. These things can typically be handled with topical ointments and medications provided by our office.

Serious risks include burn injury, scarring, and pigmentation irregularities. While extremely rare, it is important to understand these risks before undergoing treatment. During your initial consultation, we will discuss the benefits and risks of laser skin resurfacing to help ensure you are making the best decision for your needs.
