What Issues can Injectable Fillers Correct?

Portrait of middle aged model smiling wide and looking aside Dermal fillers, also known as “injectable fillers” or simply “fillers,” restore or create volume in the treatment area. They are commonly used to correct issues such as:

  • Hollow or droopy cheeks
  • Sunken temples
  • Depressed tear troughs
  • Asymmetrical or thin lips
  • Facial skin laxity

Dermal fillers can be used to address static lines and wrinkles. These are the creases that are always present, such as nasolabial folds. Some injectable fillers can also be used on the back of the hands to address thinning skin, exposed veins, and visible tendons.

At Restore Plastic Surgery, we offer a range of fillers, including:

  • Radiesse®, which uses calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres to produce both immediate and lasting improvement in the treatment area. Radiesse can deliver results for 15 months or more.
  • Sculptra®, which uses poly-L-lactic acid to produce fuller, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin for up to two years. Some people experience results for even longer.

In addition to these injectable fillers, we are pleased to offer fat transfer to restore volume, smooth lines and wrinkles, and tighten the skin. Unlike injectable fillers, fat transfer can add volume to several areas of the body, including the breasts and buttocks. Results from fat transfer can last for several years.

Fat transfer requires a liposuction procedure and is not strictly non-surgical. Dermal fillers, by contrast, require no incisions, sutures, or surgical risks, making them more attractive to some patients. However, fat transfer will often be the best option when there is excess fat on the body combined with a desire for smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Wrinkle Relaxers

Fillers add volume to the treatment area. Wrinkle relaxers, like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, relax underlying muscles to help skin smooth. These treatments do not add volume to the skin, but are ideal for areas such as between the eyebrows, across the forehead, on the bridge of the nose, or next to the eyes, where extra padding would look unnatural. Wrinkle relaxers do not last as long as fillers, but are often complementary to treatment because they address different concerns.

At our Pensacola office, we understand that no single option will produce ideal results for every individual. Therefore, we offer several non-surgical skin rejuvenation services to ensure we can meet the needs of each person who walks through our doors.
