Ptosis cannot be avoided. It can, however, be corrected. And at Restore Plastic Surgery, our board-certified plastic surgeon is here to assess your level of ptosis and provide the most effective options to restore a firmer, perkier, and more desirable breast location.
Breast Lift Surgery
Breast lift surgery addresses ptosis. With this procedure, the breast mound is lifted and firmed before excess skin is removed, allowing the remaining skin to be tightened over the newly raised form. Capable of producing both immediate and long-term results, a breast lift can also correct ptosis brought about by weight fluctuations and is often included in the mommy makeover procedure, along with breast augmentation, to address changes related to pregnancy and nursing.
There are different breast lift incisions, allowing for the complete customization of your procedure. These are:
- Around the nipple in the dark skin of the areola
- Around the nipple and vertically from the areola to the breast crease
- Around the nipple, vertically from the areola to the breast crease, and along the breast crease
The incision required for optimal sculpting is based on factors unique to your anatomy and desires. During your initial consultation, Dr. Brown will carefully assess your breast tissue and discuss your incision options to help you plan for the most rewarding experience.
Reduction with Lift
While a supportive bra will not prevent breast ptosis, more supportive undergarments can improve comfort in women with heavier breasts. Breast reduction and a lift may be the ideal solution if you have used a supportive bra to assist with this issue.
Breast reduction removes excess tissue from the breasts, allowing for a more desirable breast shape and weight. If heavy or pendulous breasts are your concern, Dr. Brown will provide additional information on this common combination to help you determine if it’s the best fit for your needs.
